Atlanta 1996 OC - Traditions of the South Theme Beginning
BackThis clip is the first of a couple of them that are categorized in this section called "Traditions of the South." First, the Jumbotron showed at the time where the Olympic torch was located: at City Hall. Second, the young people of Atlanta and other parts of the United States of America welcome the Olympic athletes and spectators by singing, dance and other choreography. In this case, it is the cheerleading squads, marching bands and pick-up trucks. Cheerleading squads perform their various routines mainly at grade school and college (universities to those around the world) sporting events. The same can be applied to the likes of the NFL (the National Football League), as an example. Marching bands are also one of the staples of American culture, too. Also, the use, I believe, of many Chevy S-10 pickup trucks (judging by the look of them) to showcase that part of America's southern youth culture at the time.
